Leland Fire/Rescue is constantly looking for qualified volunteers to fill its ranks. The application process is a simple one and most training is provided by the local community college at no or reduced cost to the member. The department offers very diverse opportunities in fire/rescue operations (ages 18 and up ) and emergency medical services (ages 18 and up). We also have a "Junior" program for eligible high school students. The
Youth Program is a collaboration between North Brunswick High School and
Leland Fire/Rescue. If you are interested in participating or would

Application Process
- Anyone wishing to submit an application can do so by printing off the Application for Membership or by picking one up at our headquarters at 1004 Village Road in Leland, NC.

Application should be submitted with all fields complete along with a copy of your driver’s license and social security card to the Chief or other staff members.

There is a $35.00 fee for your state-wide criminal and motor vehicle record check.

The application will then be presented to the Board of Directors at their regularly scheduled meetings for review and approval.

The applicant will then be notified to be present at the next business meeting (1st Monday of each month).

When the applicant receives membership, they will then be placed on a probationary status for six months. At the end of that period the probationary member will be brought back before the Board of Director for a vote on permanent membership. The Board has three options: a) grant permanent membership, b) continue probationary status, or c) deny permanent membership and terminate the probationary membership. If the probationary member is terminated then they may reapply in six months.
